"KLASSIKAL KIDZ" is a special concert on November 8th to draw attention to Thailand's children, in particular those who need our help the most. It's classical music, performed by kids, performed FOR kids, by the youthful Siam Sinfonietta under the direction of Maestro Somtow Sucharitkul.
In particular, the concert will draw attention to the work being done for Thailand's kids by the any volunteer groups who do so much for this country. 100 kids and their parents from the World Vision projects will be the Sinfonietta's special guests at this concert. There will be special booths set up so people can sign up to sponsor a child,

In addition, the Sinfonietta has invited children from Bangkok and beyond, including children from Nakon Ratchasima who have been affected by recent flooding.
In planning this concert, Maestro Somtow was inspired by a conversation he had with Father Joe Maier. "I asked Father Joe what I should to help raise money for his slum projects" and he replied, "Don't worry about the money. What the kids really need is quality time. They need you to do real things for them, to really give them of yourself." Somtow said, "It's wonderful to see the reactions of young people who have never heard a live symphony orchestra before. It's exciting and you know that for some of them it will be a life-changing experience."
The concert features "REAL" classical music -- from Haydn's thrilling Symphony No. 104 to Saint Saens's entertaining "Carnival of the Animals." Special features will be the world premiere of a new piece by 18-year old Jay (Natthapong Yutthanasirikul) recent winner of the international choir composition competition organized by Festa Musicale of the Czech Republic, some excerpts from Bruce Gaston's "A Boy and a Tiger", and Bach's double concerto for two violins featuring the amazing 5-year-old Ploy (Erika Ngarmcroh) in her debut with orchestra.
Large groups of kids from schools or institutions should contact K Ratana (02) 231-5273 directly in order to block seats at the Thailand Cultural Center. There will be no charge for kids and their caregivers to attend if they come as a group as long as space remains available. Individuals may buy tickets for 500 and 1000 baht (the money goes to pay for the hall and other incidentals; the performers will all be donating their time.) KLASSIKAL KITZ คลาสสิคัล คิดซ์ เปิดแสดงวันที่ 8 พฤศจิกายน เป็นคอนเสิร์ตพิเศษที่จะโน้มนำความสนใจไปสู่เยาวชนไทยโดยเฉพาะผู้ที่ต้องการความช่วยเหลือมากที่สุด ดนตรีคลาสสิคแสดงโดยเด็กเพื่อเด็ก... โดยวงดุริยางค์เยาวชนสยามซินโฟนิเอตต้า ภายใต้การควบคุมของไมสโตร สมเถา สุจริตกุล
คอนเสิร์ตนี้แสดงถึงผลงานอันมากมายหลายหลากของกลุ่มอาสาสมัครที่ทำเพื่อเด็กไทย เยาวชนจากมูลนิธิศุภนิมิตจำนวน 100 คนพร้อมผู้ปกครองจะมาชมการบรรเลงในฐานะแขกพิเศษของสยามซินโฟนิเอตต้า และจัดให้มีบูธให้ผู้ศรัทธาลงชื่อสมัครเป็นผู้อุปถัมภ์เด็กหนึ่งคนหรือมากกว่านั้น นอกจากนั้น สยามซินโฟนิเอตต้ายังไดัเชิญกลุ่มเยาวชนอื่นๆ จากกรุงเทพและต่างจังหวัดรวมทั้งนครราชสิมาซึ่งเป็นเหยื่ออุทกภัยจากน้ำท่วมที่เพิ่งผ่านพ้นไปให้มาร่วมชมคอนเสิร์ตครั้งนี้ด้วย
การวางแผนจัดคอนเสิร์ตเพื่อเยาวชนครั้งนี้สืบเนื่องมาจากการสนทนาระหว่างไมสโตรสมเถากับสาธุคุณ โจ ไมเยอร์... สมเถาถามฟาเธ่อร์โจว่าควรจะช่วยหาทุนทรัพย์สนับสนุนโครงการเด็กสลัมของท่านอย่างไรดี คุณพ่อตอบว่า “อย่าห่วงเรื่องเงิน สิ่งที่เด็กขาดจริงๆ คือเวลาอันมีค่าของคุณ เด็กๆ ต้องการให้คุณทำสิ่งที่เป็นรูปธรรมสำหรับพวกเขา มอบตัวเองให้เขาได้สัมผัสอย่างจริงจัง” สมเถากล่าวว่า “การที่ได้เห็นการตอบสนองของเด็กที่ไม่เคยฟังซิมโฟนีออร์เคสตร้ามาก่อนเลยในชีวิตเป็นของวิเศษ นอกจากตื่นเต้นแล้ว แล้วคุณยังรู้ว่าสิ่งที่คุณทำเป็นการเปิดโอกาสให้เด็กๆ มีประสบการณ์ที่เปลี่ยนชีวิตของพวกเขา”
